The Tour to the South Valley of Cusco begins in the morning (08:30 am) with the pick up at your hotel, on the way south of Cusco we can observe beautiful landscapes typical of our town. Our first stop will be at the archaeological site of Tipon an Inca ceremonial center dedicated to one of the most important elements for the Incas the “Water” its buildings are carefully designed for the flow of water that comes from one of the Apus venerated the “Pachutusan " Next we will continue with the tour to the archaeological center Pikillaqta which literally means "city of fleas". This is a pre-Inca citadel made by the Wari culture that was one of the most important pre-Inca cultures conquered by the Incas. Finally, our tour of the Sacred Valley concludes by visiting the beautiful colonial church of Andahuaylillas, a small jewel also known as 'The Sistine Chapel of America', inside which is an impressive collection of Canvases with frames bathed in gold leaf and wall paintings, Baroque altarpieces and more. At the end of the tour, we will return to the city of Cusco.

What can I find in the way of tipón, Pikillacta, and Andahuaylillas?

  • Through the route, we can find the towns of Oropesa, Huaro, and Andahuaylillas. Within them, we find colonial churches with wonderful pulpits and baroque arts. One of the most important churches that we find within this route is that of Andahuaylillas, better known as "Sistine Chapel".

  • Another particular detail of the South Valley is that we find the Huacarpay Lake, full of endemic plant and animal species. During this brief tour of the lake, we will have access to the archaeological park of Pikillaqta, one of the three most important cities of the pre-Inca Wari culture.
